History

Located in the heart of Hialeah, minutes from the Palmetto Expressway, the Sunshine State Parkway, I-95 and I-75, Palm Springs General Hospital is easily accessible to all Hialeah residents as well those who reside in North Miami and Northwest Dade.

As the city of Hialeah and its surrounding communities have grown and changed so has Palm Springs Hospital. In 1965, the hospital opened in the center of rural meadow on the outskirts of Hialeah, a small town with a population of just over 60,000 according to U.S. Census figures. Today dramatic growth has elevated Hialeah to the eight largest city in the State of Florida. Palm Springs General Hospital has grown to take its place as one of the largest privately-owned hospitals in the state… though we remain dedicated to preserving a home-like rather than institutional environment for patients and their families.

In response to the community, patients both Hispanic and non-hispanic will find our medical, professional and service personnel fluent in their language and attuned to their individual needs. Palm Springs, a 247-bed facility, offers luxury private suites as well as comfortable patient rooms.

Over the years, new construction and renovation at Palm Springs has kept pace with the latest developments in medical technology. In the spring of 1995, we undertook complete renovation of our Intensive Care Unit, resulting in an ultramodern facility offering the most advanced techniques for critical care. In 2004 the Emergency Department was newly built along side the hospital. It is a well equipped 24 bed unit. After that the Outpatient Services and GI Department was greatly improved in a new area of the hospital to provide better care for the patients.

Our Laparoscopic Surgery Center opened allowing patients to elect Laparoscopic surgery over traditional procedures requiring longer recuperation periods.

Our Radiology department has the latest digital mammography equipment and the 64 slice cat scan brings advances in cardiac imaging.

Though we have  developed into a sophisticated medical center, our original philosophy of local community care remains intact. We recruit the finest professionals from all corners of the world and offer the personal and professional benefits of working at Palm Springs and living in South Florida. We encourage continuing education and community involvement from every member of the Palm Springs “family”. And we strive to provide each and every member of your family with the finest of medical care in compassionate, comfortable and caring surroundings.

As we enter the fifth decade of community health care, Palm Springs General Hospital offers all specialty areas with the exception of Obstetrics and Psychiatry. We are committed to maintaining excellence of care and remaining on the leading edge of advancements in the field of medicine.
